“Drew and Claudia are exemplary advisors, whose recognition by Barron’s is well-deserved based on the unwavering commitment they provide to our clients,” said Roy Ballentine, founder and president of Ballentine Partners. “On a professional and personal level, they also make an important contribution to the culture and ethos of our firm and are deeply admired by their colleagues,” he added.

Mr. McMorrow, who has been with Ballentine for nearly a decade, advises clients on a wide array of wealth-related issues, including business succession planning, philanthropy, direct ventures and real estate. “Helping clients balance the private portion of their financial life with their professional and community commitments is an important part of our practice,” Mr. McMorrow said. He noted that he and his colleagues also devote considerable attention to helping adult children of clients assume the responsibilities of stewarding wealth.

Ms. Shilo commented that a major focus of her practice is helping families think through the deeper issues of how they want themselves and their children to relate to wealth. “Clients appreciate that we are sensitive to family dynamics and do not simply take a strictly by-the-numbers approach to managing wealth,” she said.

Both Mr. McMorrow and Ms. Shilo are active in their communities. As the father of three, Mr. McMorrow volunteers as a director of local softball programs and as a softball and baseball coach for his children’s teams. He also is an avid swimmer who enjoys competing in long-distance open water swimming races.

Ms. Shilo is active in the New Hampshire community. She serves as Chair of the Lakes Region Advisory Board of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and is Treasurer and leads Development for the Great Waters Music Festival, which she has been involved in since 1999. Ms. Shilo has developed a work-study program between the firm and Brewster Academy, aimed at helping high school students further their interest in finance, business, and economics. She also is actively involved in the New Hampshire Lake Host program, which assists local groups dedicated to protecting New Hampshire’s lakes and watersheds. She is an avid water skier and a 3-time New Hampshire State Slalom Champion.

Mr. McMorrow also has expertise in helping families establish and administer private foundations. Before joining Ballentine Partners, Mr. McMorrow was a consultant at Mercer Management Consulting and Director of Business Operations at Oracle Corporation.

Mr. McMorrow earned an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley and has degrees in Economics and International Relations, respectively, from Brown University. He is a Certified Financial Planner practitioner and lives with his family in Carlisle, MA.

Previously, she was the Vice President of Finance and Control for two divisions of Agway, Inc. She has also owned and managed an accounting practice that serviced individual and corporate clients in the Syracuse, NY area. Ms. Shilo has a Master of Science in Financial Planning from the College of Financial Planning and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from LeMoyne College. She serves on the board of the New Hampshire Estate Planning Council and is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, the Financial Planning Association, the American Institute of CPAs, and the New Hampshire Society of CPAs.

Barron’s states that its ranking “reflects the volume of assets overseen by the advisors and their teams, revenues generated for the firms and the quality of the advisors’ practices.”
