Mobile Marketing Association Announces a New Flagship Event Focused on Mobile Marketing for Advertising Week 2012
NEW YORK, Oct. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Today, the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) announced plans to inaugurate a new, two-day conference and expo created specifically for the mobile marketing industry at Advertising Week 9, 2012. The MMA Mobile Conference and Expo will bring mobile to the forefront of programming during the week. Millennial Media will serve as the founding sponsor of the event.
The MMA, the leading global trade association for the mobile marketing industry, is a featured member of the organizing committee for Advertising Week, and this mobile event will be the first official event of its kind for the week. The Conference and Expo will bring together leading thinkers in the mobile marketplace, and the Expo will feature a Global Mobile Pavilion.
“As the single most important emerging channel, mobile needs to take its rightful place as a key player during Advertising Week,” said Mobile Marketing Association CEO Greg Stuart. “Marketers broadly understand why mobile is critically important, but as the channel and the media landscape swiftly evolve, they need to know how mobile can specifically work for them. With this conference, we will deliver tangible ways on how best to leverage mobile to achieve marketing their goals.”
“It is becoming increasingly clear that mobile will permanently define the leading edge of the digital advertising business. Launching a compelling, mobile-only event at Advertising Week will be a great opportunity for the industry to come together and discuss the future of the digital medium,” said Paul Palmieri, President and CEO of Millennial Media and Global Vice Chairman of the MMA. “We’re proud to be the founding sponsor of this groundbreaking conference and expo, and looking forward to bringing together some of the leading minds in the space.”
In the coming weeks, MMA will announce the formation of a senior advisory board to identify issues and further develop the Mobile Conference and Expo. The event will provide a unique opportunity for thought leaders to assist in driving the agenda.
“With mobile data traffic growing 2.6 times globally in 2010, nearly tripling for the third year in a row, and with smart phones accounting for more than 78 percent of handset traffic worldwide, growth in the mobile channel continues to astound,” said Matt Scheckner, CEO of Advertising Week. “We are thrilled to be able to collaborate with the MMA on this inaugural conference; mobile’s time at Advertising Week has definitely come.”
The world’s premier annual gathering of marketing and communications leaders, Advertising Week hosts more than 200 events for week, including thought leadership seminars featuring the industry’s best and brightest, and engaging special events designed to galvanize targeted constituencies. Advertising Week’s mission is to stimulate the industry by creating an entertaining, enlightening and engaging platform for disparate parts of the business. Along the way, The Week is a tangible force – moving key industry goals around talent and diversity forward.
