More than 100 kettles are placed at various sites throughout Allegheny County with a goal of $960,000. Sponsors are now in the process of selecting and purchasing holiday gifts for needy families in Allegheny County. Sponsors are matched through a Salvation Army social worker to an approved family who is in a crisis situation.
Gifts will be collected at the Broad Street location @ 6017 Broad Street, East Liberty, 15206 from December 1-16. Gifts will be distributed from December 1st through December 22nd from 9:00 am thru 3:00 pm from the same location.

November 16th @ 10:00 am – Walmart Kettle Red Kettle Kickoff Challenge
Walmart and The Salvation Army are partnering in the Red Kettle effort again this year, as the Walmart Stores in Allegheny County challenge each other for the most dollars raised in the Red Kettle at their store. Festivities are to be held at the North Versailles Walmart. Enjoy a hot drink. Last year, these selected stores raised more than $100,000 through their Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.

Volunteers from the accounting firm Horovitz, Rudoy and Roteman assist each year in the Treasures for Children program. As sponsors they purchase gifts for an average of 50 children annually and as volunteers they work at half staff in their office for two days each year to devote a minimum of 20 volunteers to our massive toy sorting for Allegheny County. In addition, Horovitz, Rudoy and Roteman provide lunch for volunteers the two days they are on hand.

Nearly 2,000 needy and lonely people will be served a first-rate holiday meal. Participating hosts are: The Omni William Penn, The Sheraton Station Square and the University of Pittsburgh (12:00-noon thru 2:00 pm). More than 300 volunteers assist in serving. This is the 25th year of this program.
