Independent Libya Foundation President Basit Igtet To Continue Development Programs Aimed at Supporting the Libyan TNC and the People of Libya
NEW YORK and TRIPOLI, Libya, Nov. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The independent Libya Foundation (ILF), which was founded to support the resistance movement in Libya, is now moving into the second phase of its mission statement after the successful placement of the Libyan Transitional National Council (TNC) as the sole Governing body in Libya.
What is the Independent Libya Foundation?
The ILF is an independent, non-profitmaking organization developed by supporters of the Libyan people and dedicated to the creation of an independent, unified and democratic Libya. The ILF supports the Interim Transitional National Council of Libya, established in Benghazi on 5th March 2011.
The initial objectives of the ILF were to provide clear and accurate information to the media and others on the developing situation in Libya, with the aim of creating the conditions for a peaceful long term solution to the country’s problems on the basis of the establishment of a democratic and accountable system of government which represents the interests of all Libyans.
Founders of the ILF
Basit Igtet: a prominent Zurich-based businessman, philanthropist and Libyan national has worked on development and social programs throughout the world including Cambodia and the Middle East. Mr. Igtet founded the ILF in order to support and provide direct assistance to the Libyan people. Due to Mr. Igtet’s strong international influence, the ILF participated in the development of international recognition of the TNC with various heads of State during the process of the United Nations’ recognition of the Libyan TNC. Mr. Igtet’s business background, international experience and strong knowledge of global diplomacy has allowed him to support the cause of the Libyan people both during the revolution as well in the important months and years ahead.
Adam Hock: As one of the early supporters of the Libyan Movement, Mr. Hock assisted in the process of generating international recognition of the Libyan Transitional National Council (TNC). He also generated influence with American policy makers for increased support of the TNC. Mr. Hock represents the ILF and with his experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and international banking, provides the ILF with policy knowledge.
