HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Filing and managing unemployment compensation claims online is the easiest, most convenient way for claimants to work with the Department of Labor & Industry, Secretary Julia K. Hearthway said today.

“Many of Pennsylvania’s unemployment compensation services are available online, 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Hearthway. “Providing services online gives claimants the opportunity to file for and manage their claims from the comfort and convenience of their home, local PA CareerLink® office, public library or any location where an Internet connection is available.”

Pennsylvania’s unemployment compensation website offers claimants the following services around the clock:

  • File an initial claim, reopen a claim, file a biweekly claim;
  • Check claim status, view payments, manage account information;
  • Receive answers to frequently asked questions about unemployment compensation.

“Higher call volumes this time of year can, unfortunately, mean busy signals for some callers,” said Hearthway. “While services are available by telephone on weekdays and Sundays, Labor & Industry encourages claimants to use the website to file for unemployment compensation and to manage their claims.”

To file an unemployment compensation claim online, or to manage an existing claim, visit www.uc.pa.gov.
