U.S. News & World Report Introduces U.S. News Academic Insights
WASHINGTON, Jan. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — U.S. News & World Report announced today a major expansion of its education data products with the launch of U.S. News Academic Insights, a premium database for education professionals. The web-based platform gives schools at the college and graduate levels access to a dashboard containing years of historical rankings and data, advanced visualizations and animations, and full reporting and exporting capabilities.
While the content on USNews.com is focused toward parents and students currently applying to college and graduate schools, U.S. News Academic Insights takes a step back and allows schools to view rankings and data at a strategic level; over many years and in relation to their peers.
The platform sits on top of millions of data points on more than 1,600 undergraduate schools and 2,000 graduate level programs in law, business, medicine, graduate engineering and graduate education. The platform contains data going back to the first U.S. News Best Colleges annual guidebook, published in 1988. For the first time, the platform also integrates web traffic data from USNews.com along with social media tools giving schools unique insight into users who are researching the institution.
“While much of our content is free, we’ve had great success selling sophisticated, value-added tools and data to those parents and students who are deeply involved in the college search,” said Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News. “This is our first paid content product tailored just for the education professional. We have 30 years of unique information about colleges and graduate schools and we’ve often been asked to compile it in once place. Now we have a terrific tool that lets higher ed decision-makers access that trove in a searchable, sortable way.”
