Current Heisman Trophy Winner, Robert Griffin III, Speaks Out on His Faith This Weekend With Local Houston Pastor Kerry Shook in his Series — Faith and Sports
HOUSTON, Feb. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — More professional athletes are speaking out on how their faith impacts their lives and their sport. This weekend local Houston Pastor Kerry Shook of Woodlands Church continues his series on Faith and Sports interviewing RG3, current Heisman Trophy winner and academic All-American who graduated from Baylor University in three years with a Political Science Major.
Robert Griffin III recently declared himself eligible for the upcoming NFL draft and is considered by scouts to be one of the top overall picks. “He is unquestionably one of the most dynamic players to come along in the past ten years,” said Pastor Shook. “And his athletic ability is second to none. He has a unique combination of mobility and accuracy.” In 2011 Griffin became the first player from Baylor University to win the Heisman, completing 291 passes for 4,293 yards with 37 touchdowns. He has been referred to as the fastest quarterback in college football history!
Yet, beyond his athleticism, RG3 has an abiding faith. “He was as known for his faith as well as his football skills on the Baylor campus,” said Shook.
In his new series Extraordinary, Pastor Kerry is using his mega-church pulpit each weekend to interview a number of professional athletes about the connection between sports and faith. These athletes include World Series slugger Lance Berkman, former Dallas Cowboy and Heisman Trophy winner, Herschel Walker, current Heisman winner, Robert Griffin III, as well as Matt Bullard, former NBA Champion of the Houston Rockets.
