Mobile Gaming Leader Cellufun Invites Gamers to Re-Name the Company
NEW YORK, Feb. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Cellufun, a global leader in mobile casual and social games, announced today it is launching the RE-NAME GAME on February 16 and inviting all casual gaming enthusiasts to help rename the company as part of Cellufun’s strategy to define the next generation of mobile games. The Company is combining the best elements of gaming and crowd-sourcing to identify its new name, and will re-brand itself based on the results.
“As Cellufun transitions into the next generation mobile gaming platform based on the latest mobile browser, we wanted to give casual gaming enthusiasts an opportunity to participate in the future of casual games by helping us rename the company,” said Lon Otremba, Cellufun CEO. “Cellufun’s success has long been based upon involving our community of casual gamers in helping us create games that appeal to every type of gamer, from social games to casino games to brain games and everything in between. So it was only natural that as we embark on the next chapter in our future, we create a game and invite gamers to participate in helping us define that future by coming up with a new name for the company.”
The RE-NAME GAME opens on February 16 with an opportunity for anyone to submit a name for the company, along with a brief explanation of why they like the suggested name. The first round of the RE-NAME GAME closes on March 1.
The company will then choose 16 names from among those submitted. Gamers will then have the opportunity to vote for their favorite name in three rounds beginning March 7th and ending on March 25th. Game details and rules can be found on the RE-NAME GAME mobile website at http://m.cellufun.com/g/rng/media.asp.
Anyone can participate by going to http://m.cellufun.com/g/rng. Participants whose suggested names are among the 16 chosen for the first round of voting will be profiled on the RE-NAME GAME mobile web page, Cellufun Facebook and Twitter pages, and will receive special recognition within the Cellufun user world. Participants who make it through each successive round, as well as the person who submits the ultimate name chosen, will receive recognition by the company and within the community. The person whose name ends up being chosen by the user community as the company’s new name will be awarded $10,000, as well as given the opportunity to design and name a one-of-a-kind virtual item in the Cellufun world. If the winner is not able to accept their award, it will be awarded to the person whose submitted name received the second highest votes.
Cellufun will announce the new company name on April 4th.
All suggested names must conform to the rules and regulations as explained on the RE-NAME GAME mobile site.
