Technomic Announces the 2012 Top 100 Nightclubs, Bars and Lounges

February 21, 2012

CHICAGO, Feb. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Working in conjunction with Nightclub & Bar, Technomic released its 2012 Top 100 list, identifying the nightclub, bar and lounge venues leading the industry in total revenue. The Nightclub & Bar Top 100 list is the only revenue-based ranking of nightlife venues.

The bar was raised yet again with Las Vegas’ Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub reporting revenue in excess of $70 million for 2011, thus pushing the upper echelon of the Top 100 higher than the previous year. Major markets including Las Vegas, Southern California, New York City and Chicago make up the bulk of the areas represented, but markets ranging from Lake Cuomo, N.J., to Kansas City, Mo., to Scottsdale, Ariz., also appear on the 2012 Top 100. Altogether, the 100 venues on the latest Nightclub & Bar Top 100 list generated revenue totaling $1.4 billion.

The list is generated via primary research and analysis of secondary sources. The primary research included a survey conducted from Oct. 13 until Dec. 1, 2011, which generated more than 800 responses.

In addition to revenue information, the Top 100 survey also yields additional segmentation and performance benchmark information. The survey revealed that 70 percent of venue operators experienced revenue growth in 2011, with nearly half reporting increases exceeding 10 percent. This demonstrates that top-performing venues are outpacing the industry.

“Overall, the top clubs and bars continue to generate growth well in excess of the overall bar and nightclub segment, which grew 1 percent in 2011,” said David Henkes, Vice President and Leader of Technomic’s Adult Beverage Practice. “Although the economy and the industry did show signs of recovery last year, these venues obviously excelled at concept innovation and operational execution, as well as promotion, which enabled them to experience such exceptional growth.”

The Top 100 Panel during the 2012 Nightclub & Bar Show in Las Vegas will be presented and moderated by Henkes and Donna Hood Crecca, Senior Director for Technomic’s Adult Beverage Resource Group.
