Shark Tank Dominates With New Guest Shark

February 21, 2012

CHICAGO, Feb. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — ABC’s Shark Tank is the hottest show in television right now, posting ABC’s best non-sports ratings since February 6, 2009. In its third season, Shark Tank pits seasoned celebrity businessmen and women (Sharks), such as Mark Cuban against each other, evaluating pitches and matching wits to invest in products developed by entrepreneurs. This past Friday’s (Feb 10, 2012) episode featured a new guest Shark, Lori Greiner, an all-American success story. Greiner, a prolific inventor with over one hundred patents, has sold her products on QVC, JC Penney, and many other retail outlets. She brought a new audience to the Shark Tank – her loyal fans and customers who have bought her products through these avenues for years.

Lori brought an additional level of excitement to the show, producing a Shark Tank first; she wrote a check for $75,000 to an entrepreneur on the spot! Moreover, Mark Cuban and she participated in a tense negotiation for a wine preservation product, The Wine Balloon, in which they both offered to buy the rights to the product at nearly three times the value that the inventor was initially trying to raise. Both of these incidents were not without controversy, of course, but that is what makes for great TV, right? The ratings and the buzz on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media outlets were the icing on the cake…

Shark Tank is scheduled to have Lori Greiner as a Shark February 17th and February 24th stirring up the tank even more. There is great anticipation to see if the show maintains its new momentum and energy. More importantly for ABC, it will be interesting to see if Shark Tank can sustain its King of Friday ratings status. The next episode of Shark Tank airs Friday, February 17th at 8pmET/7CT.
