Family Guy Online Invites Fans to Join the Griffins and “Family Guyz” Themselves

March 2, 2012

LOS ANGELES, March 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Beginning today, fans of Twentieth Century Fox’s Emmy® Award-winning animated television series, Family Guy, and Family Guy Online, a new free-to-play game, will be able to “Family Guyz” themselves. The “Family Guyzer” application, available at www.familyguyonline.com, lets users see how they might appear as an honorary citizen of Quahog. All it takes is a simple digital photo upload to create a custom Family Guy character. Fans can share their “Family Guyzed” photos with friends on Facebook. They can also enter the “Family Guyzer Sweeps” for a chance to win some freakin’ sweet prizes. The “Family Guyzer” launch is brought to you exclusively by Columbia Pictures’ and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ “21 Jump Street,” in theaters March 16, 2012.

Just upload a photo, choose which Griffin family member you want to most be like, answer a couple of questions about your appearance and click the button. Your image immediately gets the “Family Guy” treatment, and you’ll get an email letting you know when you’re ready to become an honorary citizen of Quahog. Once you’ve been “Family Guyzed,” you can then share your unique character on your Facebook profile and enter for a chance to win the sweepstakes with another click of a button.

“With ‘Family Guyzer,’ fans can now literally see themselves as citizens of Quahog,” said Gary Rosenfeld, senior vice president, New Media for Fox Consumer Products. “Making them feel like part of the community of Quahog is exactly what our goal is for the Family Guy Online game. Soon fans will be able to fully immerse themselves within the Family Guy Online world using their own unique ‘Family Guyzed’ selves.”

The “Family Guyzer” sweepstakes gives fans the opportunity to enter for a chance to win prizes, including a Sony VAIO Laptop, a $2,000 Sony Store gift certificate and bragging rights for having their “Family Guyzed” character featured within the Family Guy Online game. There is no purchase, payment, character upload or sharing of the character image necessary to win or to enter for a chance to win. Participants should visit http://www.familyguyonline.com/terms_of_use#sweepstakes to see the official rules and complete sweepstakes details.

Family Guy Online is a free-to-play, browser-based multiplayer game developed in partnership with Roadhouse Interactive and is currently in closed beta. Soon after the expected open beta launch in spring 2012, players will be able to play as 3D versions of their Family Guyzed selves in the game. They will also be able customize their “Family Guyzed” characters with different hair styles, outfits and accessories.

About “21 Jump Street”

In the action-comedy “21 Jump Street,” in theaters March 16, 2012, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) were enemies in high school who became unlikely friends in Police Academy. While they may not be the best cops on the beat, they have a chance to turn it around when they join the police department’s secret Jump Street unit, run by Captain Dickson (Ice Cube). They trade in their guns and badges for backpacks and use their youthful appearances to go undercover. Trouble is, teenagers today are nothing like what they were just a few years ago, and Schmidt and Jenko discover that everything they think they know about being a teenager, from sex to drugs to rock and roll, is all wrong. More importantly, they both find they are still dealing with all of the adolescent problems they didn’t address in their own teen years – and both will have to confront the terror and anxiety of being a teenager again and all the issues they thought they had left behind. The film is directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller. The screenplay is by Michael Bacall. Story by Michael Bacall & Jonah Hill. Based on the Television Series created by Patrick Hasburgh & Stephen J. Cannell. Produced by Neal H. Moritz and Stephen J. Cannell.
