Macy Gray Performing on Conan Tonight; Also Appearing on Tavis Smiley
SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Macy Gray, newly signed with 429 Records, will perform on Conan tonight and will appear on Tavis Smiley to celebrate the release of “COVERED”–a collection of all new recordings of handpicked songs she’s chosen to reinterpret in her own inimitable fashion. She’ll perform her interpretation of My Chemical Romance’s smash single “Teenagers” with a full band and a choir of teenagers backing her up. Produced by Hal Willner (Lou Reed, Metallica), Zoux and Macy Gray “COVERED” tackles material largely drawn from indie rock songs from the last decade–interpretations her fans will be familiar with as she’s been performing them live over the years. The album contains biting, dark signature tracks such as Arcade Fire’s “Wake Up” or Radiohead’s “Creep” which Gray subversively overhauls into something wholly her own. Also included are short skits featuring J.B. Smoove, Nicole Scherzinger and a guest appearance by Idris Elba. The first single “Sail” was #1 Most Added at AC radio for the 3rd week in a row with 5 more adds and.
