Joan L. Barrick Recognized By Strathmore’s Who’s Who Worldwide Publication
SYOSSET, N.Y., April 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Ms. Joan L. Barrick of Bethesda, Maryland has been included in the Strathmore’s Who’s Who Worldwide Edition for her outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of Government and Research.
About JOAN BARRICK
Ms. Barrick has over 35 years in biological research experience. She has been with NINDS/NIH for 24 years. She currently works in Dr. Richard Youle’s lab. She helps maintain a bank of plasmids used in experiments that are shared with research labs globally. She started working at the Wistar Institute where she spent four years in Dr. Carlo Croce’s lab and 2 years in Dr. Giovanni Rovera’s lab. She briefly worked at Hahneman Hospital with Dr. Koffler and Merck Sharp and Dome. She then spent three years at Temple University working in Dr. Gordon Hard’s lab and then with Dr. Gerald Liwack’s. Ms. Barrick spent three years in Wang Ting Hsieh’s lab at NIMH, then worked for Dr. Iqbal Ali and Dr. Katherine Wood’s labs with NINDS. Since 1997 she has worked in Dr. Richard Youle’s lab. She has a B.S. in Biology from Waynesburg University, Pennsylvania in 1976. She belongs to the New York Academy of Sciences, AAAS and has the honor of being included as an author on 5 scientific papers. She has garnered 7 awards from the NIH: 2 merit awards from the NIMH, 2 merit awards from the NINDS, was awarded funds to purchase a computer as an incentive award and served on a committee to award people at her level to compare with the frequency of awards at higher levels at NIH. Ms. Barrick received an Honorable Mention from Dr. Richard Youle. She attended the first Human Genome Conference in 1989. She would like to thank her late father who worked for the government for over 40 years.
