Rose’s career took off in 2009 when she was featured in music videos for rappers such as Ludacris and Young Jeezy. Since then she has walked the runway for fashion designers, graced the small screen with several guest roles, and most recently was named the face for Smirnoff’s two new vodka flavors, Fluffed Marshmallow and Whipped Cream. With a legion of fans across the world, Rose keeps in touch with over 1.1 million of them via her Twitter handle @DaRealAmberRose.
“I get to really connect with my fans,” Rose says. “They get to see who I really am.”
Having famously ended her relationship with Kanye West in 2010, she recently announced her engagement to rapper Wiz Khalifa, whom she met via Twitter.
“I DMed Wiz on Twitter after an interview where he said I was the ultimate girl, because I wanted to send him some shades. We became friends right away, and that’s how it all began!” she said.
Lifestyle Mirror, the online style magazine, caught up with Rose on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for a special photo shoot. Dressed in atypically modest apparel from Emporio Armani, Michael Kors and Roland Mouret, she is still identifiable by her closely cropped blond hair and infamous sex appeal.
“The concept was to show Amber as a very proper, very Upper East Side lady who lunches,” says Chelsea Gombes, Editor in Chief of Lifestyle Mirror. “Her fans have definitely never seen this side of her before.”
In the story Rose opens up about how she celebrates her famous sexuality and how criticism does not faze her.
“If I want to wear a short skirt I can, and I expect to not be disrespected because I want to feel and dress sexy and not be called a whore,” she says. “Every woman has the right to dress as she pleases and not be judged by her wardrobe choices. I support all women doing their thing, whether in high heels and a mini skirt or sweats and sneakers.”
To accompany the story, Lifestyle Mirror also shot a special fashion film of the style icon. The film is available for download at http://wtrns.fr/kTQH5_ZB2c8znMy.
