Census Bureau News — Census Bureau Media Advisory: Census Bureau to Host Embargo-Period Webinar to Highlight First Race, Hispanic Origin and Age Estimates Since 2010 Census

WASHINGTON, May 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The following is being released today by the U.S. Census Bureau:

What: The U.S. Census Bureau will hold a webinar news conference to highlight key findings from its first set of population estimates by race, Hispanic origin, age and sex since the 2010 Census. These estimates will examine population change for these groups nationally, as well as within all states and counties, between April 1, 2010, and July 1, 2011. Also released will be population estimates for Puerto Rico and its municipios by age and sex. Media with embargo access will be able to view the estimates beginning several hours prior to the webinar. The estimates will be released May 17 at 12:01 a.m. EDT.

The news conference will consist of a simultaneous audio conference and online presentation. Reporters will be able to ask questions once the presentation is complete. We suggest reporters log in and call in early.

When: Tuesday, May 15, 2012; 1 p.m. (EDT)

Who: This webinar is open to those with approved embargo-access only. It will include a discussion of the estimates that will be released to the public May 17 at 12:01 a.m. EDT. See the Census Bureau’s embargoed releases page for more information.
