ArcadeWeb Casual Tournament Gamers Report Very High Odds of Winning Cash
IRVINE, Calif., May 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Gaming site ArcadeWeb today released additional data from its recent survey of casual gamers, and a key finding was that those participating in the site’s daily cash tournaments report a very high chance of winning money. 1,435 tournament players were surveyed,(1) and 43% of them reported they have won cash at ArcadeWeb.com.
ArcadeWeb was launched in 2011 as a “more than free” alternative to the most common breed of casual gaming sites: those requiring virtual currency purchases just to win virtual rewards. In the site’s social tournaments, registered members compete for over 110 daily cash prizes totaling over $1,200, and over $300,000 has been awarded to date. Unlike most tournament sites that focus on high-skill hardcore games, casual gamers at all skill levels can win at the site. And unlike a casino-style gambling model where one has to risk money to win money, ArcadeWeb is a “safe thrill” model, where competing for cash is always free. Roughly 600,000 gamers have now registered as tournament players.
“The recent, frenzied Mega Millions lottery – where the chances of winning are worse than having identical quadruplets or being killed by a vending machine – grab the headlines.(2) But our gamers are discovering a fun, practical way to win money, where the cash payouts are far more modest, but your chances of winning are nearly 1:2,” said Shawn Campbell, VP, Gaming Development, ArcadeWeb.com. “And that’s why casual gaming platforms with real cash rewards components like ArcadeWeb have seen such rapid growth.”
Battle of the Casual Gaming Sexes: If one imagines competitive tournament gaming would skew male, ArcadeWeb earlier reported that the gender breakdown for its traditional casual gamers and tournament players is exactly the same: 66% female and 34% male. And when it comes to who’s winning the tournaments and cash, the battle of the sexes is apparently a dead heat: 43% of men, and 42% of women, surveyed report they have won money. While at least 30% of all age segments surveyed report having won cash, those aged 35-44 are the most likely to have won, at 49% reporting. And the “winner” percentage is spread evenly across all U.S. regions, with a tight range of 42%-44% of tournament gamers coast-to-coast reporting they have won.

Winnings, Even When You Don’t Win: Beyond cash prizes awarded to casual tournament winners each month, ArcadeWeb offers tangible rewards just for time spent gaming at the site. Through its rewards program, gamers accumulate points as they play, and they can bid (eBay-style) those points to take home $5, $25 and $50 Amazon gift cards.
Launched in mid-2011, ArcadeWeb has rapidly become one of the largest, most highly-trafficked gaming sites on the Web, and is one of the only sites to offer hundreds of free casual games, and a chance for gamers to compete in daily tournaments to win real cash prizes. The site awards $37,000 every month in cash prizes to its users. McAfee-, Verisign- and TRUSTe-certified, ArcadeWeb guarantees complete gamer privacy protection.
