Bedtime Reading Tops Brit Kids Poll

June 28, 2012

LONDON, June 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ –

British families everyday evening favourites

When it comes to spending quality time with the family in the evening, more than 40%
of British families said their best loved moment was reading a book together before
hitting the hay, a recent survey conducted by designer childrens bedroom furniture
[http://www.featherandblack.com/Childrens.ice ] company Feather & Black reported. The poll
revealed that devoting time together is a firm favourite amongst British families, than
slumping down in front of the sofa. It seems that the British really do love traditional
rituals like winding down together with a good book!

Whether it’s reading a fairytale, fable or a classic Roald Dahl book, British kids
relish tales with mum and dad before turning in for the night. It seems that a good old
fashioned book is favoured more than the lure of modern game consoles!

UK families favourite everyday evening moments included:

        1) Reading a book in bed (43% polled)
        2) Watching TV on the sofa (26%)
        3) Playing with a games console (11%)
        4) Playing with toys in their room (9%)
        5) Playing on their Ipad or Iphone (4%) and drawing (4%)
        6) Doing homework (2%)

A whopping 50% of British women said their favourite night-time pastime is reading
with the little ones in bed before turning off the lights, compared to 35% of British men
who also claimed reading was their favourite moment with the kids too. Interestingly, 15%
of the same British men said playing a game console with the kids is the most cherished
evening activity, as opposed to 8% of British women who also shared that view.
Furthermore, 11% of British men said playing with the kids in their room with their toys
is an alltime evening favourite, compared to 8% of British women. Regardless of age, all
British mums and dads polled in the survey said that sharing a good book in bed is the
most treasured everyday evening moment. It seems that despite the attraction of iPads or
iPhones, UK kids prefer to curl up with mum and dad and read a good book together, than
play their gaming gadgets!
