Richter7 Launches 5th Annual “No Pants” Policy at Work

SALT LAKE CITY, July 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — As Utah experiences some of its worst heat waves in five years, Richter7, a Salt Lake City-based advertising and public relations agency, has mandated a “No Pants” policy from July 10 to mid-August as a way to stay cool during the summer.

For the fifth straight year, Richter7 employees will be encouraged to wear shorts, skirts, capris, lava lavas, sarongs, kilts and saris – anything but pants – to work until the heat lets up, even in professional meetings with clients. Any employee caught wearing pants during this time will be reported to the agency’s “knickerbocker police,” who will fine offenders one quarter.

“This is one way of keeping everyone comfortable and relaxed during some of the hottest days we’ve seen in years,” said Tim Brown, Richter7 partner in charge of staying cool.

Salt Lake City historically registers its hottest days of the year in July and August, with temperatures last year topping 103 degrees. On days exceeding 100 degrees, Richter7 will hold a “Cool Down” party, providing frozen treats for its 50-person agency.
