LG Mobile And Cartoon Network Team Up To Speak Up Against Bullying At 2012 LG U.S. National Texting Championship
SAN DIEGO, July 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — LG Mobile USA and Cartoon Network today announced a partnership to help prevent bullying in communities across the nation. Kicking off the partnership on August 8 at this year’s LG U.S. National Texting Championship, the sixth annual LG event that awards a $50,000 cash prize to the texter with the quickest thumbs, a special “Text for the Cause” round will encourage people across the country to pledge their support for Cartoon Network’s Stop Bullying: Speak Up(TM) campaign by texting “Join LG” to 27777. *With every text pledge (standard texting rates apply), LG will give $1 to fund the network’s on-going distribution of bullying prevention toolkits for middle schools and high schools across the U.S. that help inform teachers and students about bullying prevention.
According to research, 85 percent of youth said they would speak up against bullying if given the right tools. In partnering with Cartoon Network to help create and distribute additional Stop Bullying: Speak Up toolkits, LG is continuing its bullying prevention efforts, which began in 2010 with the launch of the LG Text Education Campaign. Designed to provide parents with the know-how and resources to promote responsible mobile phone usage among their text-savvy children, LG Text Education Campaign included a council of advisory experts, an interactive website, and a series of entertaining and educational viral videos featuring reformed texting-and-driving offender and actress Jane Lynch.

- Telling an adult you trust, so they can step in and the stop the bullying

- Getting involved with my school or community prevention program and encouraging everyone to speak up
