Washington Post Columnist Warns of Iranian Regime’s Threat to World Jewry
NEW YORK, Aug. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Washington Post columnist Colbert King has published one of the clearest warnings of the Iranian regime’s ominous threat to Jews worldwide.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is the greatest threat to Jews to emerge in the past 70 years,” wrote King. “I do, as a non-Jew, recognize vicious anti-Semitism when I see it. The Iranian government is as anti-Semitic as the Third Reich.”
King’s column, published Saturday, came just days after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, addressing ambassadors of Islamic countries in Tehran, delivered one of his most virulently anti-Semitic speeches.
“It has now been some 400 years that a horrendous Zionist clan has been ruling the major world affairs,” said Ahmadinejad. “The Zionist regime is both the symbol of the hegemony of the Zionism over the world and the means in the hand of the oppressor powers for expansion of their hegemony in the region and in the world.”
King warned that the current international focus on Iran’s quest for nuclear-weapons capability “ignores the wider threat of Iranian-sponsored anti-Semitism to Jews everywhere.”
Referring to Iran’s involvement in recent terror attacks in Bulgaria, Georgia, India and Thailand, King emphasized that “Iran violates national sovereignty in order to kill Jews.”
Calling on the international community to “prevent the potential genocide of the 21st century,” King warned that “Ahmadinejad’s call for the annihilation of Israel echoes the Fuehrer’s call for Jewish extermination.”
AJC Executive Director David Harris praised King for his clarion call against Iran’s policies in the pages of the Washington Post, one of America’s most influential newspapers.
“Colbert King has issued a global wake-up call,” said Harris. “The international community ignores Iran’s raw, unadulterated anti-Semitism, support for terrorism, Holocaust denial, and repeated public vow to eliminate Israel at its collective peril.”
