Dr. Oz–Master Of Ceremonies At USANA Champions for Change 5K Charity Event

SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NYSE: USNA), a global nutritional company, is hosting its inaugural super-hero-themed USANA Champions for Change 5K charity event on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 7:00 am at EnergySolutions Arena in downtown Salt Lake City (100 South 300 West). Dr. Mehmet Oz, two-time Emmy® Award-winning host of the The Dr. Oz Show, will serve as the master of ceremonies for the event, help lead a celebrity-filled warm-up and run alongside supporters of the USANA True Health Foundation, which will receive 100% of all proceeds.

“USANA’s relationship with HealthCorps, founded by Dr. Oz, developed out of a shared commitment to spreading health and wellness,” said Dave Wentz, USANA’s chief executive officer. “USANA and HealthCorps(®) are both advocates of healthy living, and I recently spoke at a wellness event Dr. Oz hosted in New York City. That he would want to support our foundation, which provides critical health necessities for those in need, seemed only natural.”

Dr. Oz will kick off the USANA Champions for Change event and lead the pre-run warm-up along with celebrity trainer Kathy Kaehler, Olympic gold medalist, Derek Parra, and former WNBA all-star, Jennifer Azzi. On-site registration begins at 6 a.m., with the race beginning at 7 a.m.

Participants age 12 years and older cost $25, and children under 12 years cost $15. Participants are encouraged to dress up as a super hero and run, walk or even leap tall buildings in a single bound to raise money for this worthy cause.
