On August 13th, 2012, online marketing firm, fishbat, commented on Facebook´s most recent mobile advertising unit, which allows mobile app developers to advertise their apps to mobile Facebook users. The new mobile ads were unveiled on August 7th. The new ad units are available for both iOS and Android app developers.
The ads will be managed from the developer´s dashboard within Facebook. Developers can set their target demographic based on age, gender, and region. Developers will then set their daily budget and place a bid for their cost per click. The ad monitoring platform itself is almost identical to the standard Facebook ad platform.
Sida Li, social media director at online marketing firm, fishbat, says, “These new mobile ads are going to be a great way for app developers to reach consumers in their target demographic. The Facebook mobile app is highly-used and will now be able to provide users with apps that they may have not been exposed to otherwise.”
When users click on the new mobile ad units they will be directed to either the App store or Google Play. Users will then be able to download the app if they choose to do so.
