38% Use SaaS-Based Enterprise Applications, According To New InformationWeek Reports Research

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — InformationWeek Reports (http://reports.informationweek.com), a service provider for peer-based IT research and analysis, announced the release of its latest research report. 2012 Enterprise Applications Survey encompasses analysis of results from InformationWeek’s recent survey and guides readers in evaluating an on-premises versus a software-as-a-service (SaaS) approach to enterprise applications. Over 300 business technology professionals responded to this poll.

Research Summary: Changing, upgrading and optimizing enterprise apps remains the biggest challenge for 49% of our survey respondents, and many are coping by shunning customization. SaaS and on-premises vendors are stepping up by increasing options for configuration, but that presents its own set of challenges.

Findings:

  • 36% of those respondents not using, or unsure if they are using, SaaS-based enterprise applications cite data security as the primary concern preventing adoption.
  • 40% are somewhat or very satisfied with the reliability of their on-premises applications compared with 55% satisfaction with service reliability among SaaS users.
  • The ability to integrate with existing systems and infrastructure is the No. 1 quality IT pros look for in an enterprise applications vendor, cited by 66%.
