Inclusion Films Summer Camp Gets Rock Star Treatment From One Of Pittsburgh’s Rising Bands
PITTSBURGH, Sept. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Joey Travolta’s 2-week summer camp returned to Pittsburgh last month for the 2nd year. The camps, held around the country, are designed to develop self-esteem confidence, and creativity through acting, improvisation, and digital filmmaking.
Now, one of Pittsburgh’s rising rock bands, “The Options” are planning to donate profits from their next release entitled “Alright”, set for early September, to the camp in honor of two of the band’s biggest fans, one of whom is an Inclusion Films camper.
“Our 15-year old cousin Tony’s work is featured inside the album cover and in our video,” said Jake Leya, who founded the band with his brother Zack, both high school students. “We’re making this donation in his honor, and in honor of our band’s good friend and loyal fan, Brendan, who also attended Pittsburgh’s Joey Travolta Summer Film Camp.”
No strangers to the art of giving, while in grade school, the band wrote songs and recorded an album in their basement, sold copies at school and donated all of their profits to Autism Awareness.
“The band’s generosity will help us continue to change lives every summer by providing scholarship funding for the Film Camp,” added Carolyn Hare, Director of Pittsburgh’s Joey Travolta Summer Film Camp.
“Our students learn essential skills for a career in film in a non- competitive environment,” said Joey Travolta, creator of Inclusion Films and its summer camps. “Like our workshops in Burbank and Bakersfield, the camps provide children and adolescents with autism and related disorders real-world experience and hands-on training.”
