Special Needs Children Have New Hope with iPads

September 18, 2012

HOUSTON, Sept. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — In March 2012, Sami Rahman released his barrier- smashing book for special needs children, “Getting Started: iPads for Special Needs.” Response from parents with special needs children, teachers, therapists, and doctors has been overwhelming. Now that school has started again, this is the perfect time to announce what this book can offer and where you can find it.

Being a parent of a special needs child can be overwhelming and isolating. It’s a world that often feels distant from that of parents who don’t have special needs children. Sami Rahman couldn’t understand this more, and this was his sole reason for writing this book.

About the Author

The owner of a technology company in Houston, Texas, Sami and his wife Laura have two children, Noah and Maya. Noah has Cerebral Palsy, Short Gut and PDD-NOS. This book is one part the reflection of Sami Rahman’s journey to help his son, and another part Sami’s sharing his extensive knowledge and experience to uncover a new world of hope and triumphs for special needs children.

In 2010, Sami started a website called SNApps4Kids, dedicated to sharing advice on iPad apps for special needs children. In May of 2011, Sami decided to merge his efforts with Easter Seals of Greater Houston. A portion of the proceeds from this book goes directly to Easter Seals of Greater Houston.

In 2012, SNApps4Kids became BridgingApps.org – same mission, different name.

About the Book

It’s September, and the new school year has kicked off. Teachers and parents alike will find this book a priceless gift, a useful tool like no other, and an inspiration. Similar to the book’s website – www.ipads4specialneedsbook.com – the book has comprehensive tutorials, with step-by-step and easy-to-understand directions for using the ground-breaking iPad technology and finding apps. These amazing apps include ones specifically designed for special needs users as well as repurposing ones not designed for special needs users.

The Overwhelming Response

I wish Apple gave a copy of this book out to everyone in the special needs community that purchases an iPad. This book will help a lot of people – from how to get started to what devices to use with the iPad. The book was written by an amazing special needs father that knows from personal experience the benefits that the iPad can bring to families.
