Cox Charities 2012 Grant Cycle Now Open
HERNDON, Va., Sept. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Cox Communications announces the opening of its Cox Charities grant cycle. Applications for 2012 funding will be accepted from Sept. 21 to Oct. 12, with awards announced in January 2013. Applications and information are available at www.coxcharities.org.
Cox Charities is Cox’s charitable giving initiative that supports non-profit organizations focused on youth and education programs throughout Virginia. The program, now in its third year, serves Cox communities in the Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia and Roanoke service areas.
“Over the last three years, Cox has awarded nearly $315,000 in grants to over 30 non-profit organizations in Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia and Roanoke,” said Gary McCollum, SVP and General Manager of Cox Virginia. “Cox Charities allows our company to provide greater assistance in the areas of youth and education, and deepen our commitment to our service areas.”
To receive funding, groups must serve communities within Cox’s Hampton Roads, Roanoke, Fairfax County, or Fredericksburg service areas. Eligible programs are youth and education initiatives involving science and technology, mentoring, literacy, or other opportunities designed to advance the education of youth.
