Giving of Life announces 37 grant recipients
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — In its second year of existence, Giving of Life, a Web-based grant initiative, has raised over $250,000 to support 55 different ministries in their current project goals.
Giving of Life provides a platform for faith-based charities to highlight a current project and raise support from the general public.
The Top 50 ministries, based on votes received, were given matching grants from Giving of Life of up to $1,000 of all funds raised this season. The generous donations of individuals to 55 ministries combined with the matching grants resulted in more than $60,000 in grants.
“Giving of Life was founded to provide a generosity forum to support ministries around the globe that are focused on ‘giving life’ to those in need,” said Dan Maclellan, one of the three co-founders of Giving of Life.
On October 8, 2012, Giving of Life will launch “Hope for the Holidays” which is designed to inspire individuals to “give hope, give love, give life” during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.
Ministries may apply and submit a project for consideration through an easy online process at GivingOfLife.com. If approved, a ministry project will be featured on the site, where individuals can vote for and donate directly to each ministry.
“We are passionate about encouraging these ministries to share their stories and interact with others who are also investing in their communities,” said Kerry Bural, another co-founder of Giving of Life.
The “Hope for the Holidays” grant season will run from Oct. 8-Dec. 14, 2012, and will be followed by more grant-giving seasons in 2013. The Top 50 ministry projects in votes will be awarded matching grants of up to $1,000 at the end of the season.
Any 501c3 ministries who meet the online eligibility requirements may apply. Individuals are encouraged to make donations at GivingOfLife.com.
Though not all ministries receive matching grants, each receives exposure and promotion through social media outlets, creating the potential for new relationships, partnerships and future mission opportunities.
