Comedy Web Series Astro-Cons Launches at New York Comic Con

Cartoon Follows Misadventures of Fictional Federal Agency Using Ex-cons for Space Exploration

From Comic Con Booth #942 in New York, NY (PRWEB) October 11, 2012

Astro-Cons, a web series about the fictitious Department of Space, a federal agency battling bureaucracy, the private sector, and their own ineptitude, is officially launching at New York Comic Con this week; Astro-Cons will also release its pilot there. The pilot will be launched in two parts, with the first installment being released today; the second will air on Saturday, October 13. Both will be available immediately upon release on the Astro-Cons YouTube channel.

Born from the off-color and politically incorrect minds of creators Leon Doell and Ben Friedberg, the series focuses on the Department of Space and the motley folks in its employ. The threat of planet-wide annihilation, the reboot of the Space Race, and a circus show of a presidential election are just a few of the challenges facing the team at the Department of Space.

While the series concept has been incubating in the dark depths of Doell´s psyche for more than five years, production started in January 2012.

“I´ve lived in DC for over 10 years, so I´ve heard many stories of bureaucracy, inefficiency, and redundancy,” says Doell. “Government is a constant source of humor. Reading about what happens in DC on a daily basis is funny enough. We just tap into that and embellish a little.”
