L.L.Bean Gives the Gift of Free Gear this Holiday Season
FREEPORT, Maine, Nov. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — As its 100th Anniversary celebration continues into the holiday season, outdoor retailer L.L.Bean is giving away free gear packages daily as part of its Get Out(fitted) Gear Giveaway. With winners selected every day throughout 2012, the Gear Giveaway provides prize packages of up to $500 to those who want to discover something new in the outdoors. More than $100,000 in outdoor gear and Outdoor Discovery Schools® experiences will be given away this year.
“Here at L.L.Bean we have a passion for the outdoors and want to help others to enjoy the benefits of time spent outside,” said L.L.Bean Chief Marketing Officer Steve Fuller. “In our 100th Anniversary year, we’ve made it our mission to inspire a new generation of outdoor enthusiasts. We hope the Get Out(fitted) Gear Giveaway will help to put gear into the hands of those who might need a little extra help to get outside this holiday season.”
The Get Out(fitted) Gear Giveaway is easy to enter as an individual or on behalf of someone else. Simply like L.L.Bean on Facebook and submit a post up to 1,000 characters with a photo or video demonstrating how winning gear or an Outdoor Discovery Schools course from L.L.Bean will help you or someone else experience something new outdoors. One winner will be selected every day throughout the end of the year based on creativity, need and the demonstration of passion for the outdoors.
It’s easy to enter for the chance to give a child the bike they have always wanted, fishing gear for a friend who always wanted to try their hand at fly casting, or a tent for a camping trip to get a way from it all. Recent Get Out(fitted) Gear Giveaway winners who have chosen to give the gift of the outdoors to others include:
- Lynne D. of White Hall, MD asked L.L.Bean to outfit her and her family for sledding adventures to bring back the memorable childhood days off from school she once had. Living in Maryland, the winter weather brings many snowstorms and rather than spend the winter months cooped up inside, Lynne and her three children were granted sleds so they can enjoy snowy days outside together.
- Carlos T. of Palmer, AK requested that his wife Michelle be gifted with the proper skis needed to enjoy the slopes of their new home in Alaska as she was still using the skis she had in middle school. To enjoy their new life together in Alaska where Michelle grew up, Carlos was provided with new ski gear for Michelle to illustrate how much he is looking forward to gliding into the future together and will now be equipped for what awaits around the corner.
- Jennifer V. of South Hill, VA asked L.L.Bean for a mountain bike for her 16-year-old son Samuel. Samuel recently received his license for his 16(th) birthday and to Jennifer’s surprise all he wanted was to get back on his two-wheel bike as a way to get exercise and clear his mind. Jennifer was granted the Gear Giveaway for her son to help guide him through his love of the outdoors for years and years to come.
