At the invitation of Koleston, Xuxa takes part in Women in the World
SAO PAULO, Dec. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Koleston, a brand belonging to Wella, has supported the arrival in Brazil for the first time of Women in the World, one of the world’s most important contemporary gatherings on women. Created by journalist Tina Brown, the aim of the event is to bring together women from diverse cultures to share their experiences and discuss the challenges society faces in the struggle against injustice. Wella brought to the forum one of the ambassadors of Koleston, Xuxa Meneghel, who mediated the discussion with Raquel Barros, founder of the NGO Lua Nova, which helps underprivileged adolescent mothers raise their children.
The event, which took place in Sao Paulo at Casa Fasano, brought together such personalities as Tina Brown, Diane von Furstenberg, Nizan Guanaes, former U.S. Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, and Gloria Maria.
During the event, Making Waves was also introduced, a philanthropic initiative of Wella in partnership with UNICEF. The project, launched in Brazil in October of 2011, seeks to transform the life of adolescents and young people through an exclusive educational program for the professional training of hairdressers. With educational centers in Belem and Recife, the project has just arrived in Rio de Janeiro and established a partnership with the Community of Mangueira offering the expertise of professionals, products with innovative technology for learning and post-graduate follow-up. On this occasion the new president of P&G do Brasil, Alberto Carvalho, placed in Xuxa’s hands a precious red object that is the symbol of the Making Waves initiative.
