Masimo launch new iOS product, technology health systems value revealed and Yelp
launch in Turkey
Masimo, an innovative provider of non-invasive body monitoring technologies, has
announced the launch of its new iSpO2 device
, providing outpatients with a
quick and simple way of monitoring their blood oxygen levels from the palm of their hands.
The new device connects directly to the iPhone and iPad, allowing owners to measure
and store their blood-oxygen level results. The new product takes Masimo’s already popular
pulse oximeter device, which is used in a vast number of hospitals across the world, into
the consumer arena. This will allow patients to better care for themselves, without the
need for home visits from medical staff. In addition to the consumer version, Masimo are
also planning on the release of a professional version, which is still pending approval
from the US FDA.
A new report from Global Information has shown the true size of the technological
health market this week, revealing that the combined worth of the top five digital health
markets has topped $1.9billion in 2012.
According to the research, the top markets, which include emergency response systems,
video diagnostic tools and remote doctor services, are growing in popularity across the
world. Revenue growth expected to continue well into 2013. Technological advances in
healthcare have revolutionised the self-care market, with innovations allowing patients to
track their medication, communicate with health professionals and monitor their vital
information, all from the safety of their own home.
One major contributor to the phenomenal growth in the digital healthcare market has
been the wireless patient monitoring industry, which is expected to more than double its
revenues over the next 12 months. Industry experts have attributed the growth to ageing
populations, with patients and healthcare professionals looking at alternative solutions
for providing care to the elderly.
International review website Yelp has taken yet another step towards its aim of
providing total connectivity between the world’s businesses and consumers this week, after
rolling out its services to Turkey.
In addition to the roll out of their popular website, Turkish users will also have
immediate access to the company’s corresponding mobile applications, allowing them to
access and post reviews on the move. The Turkish market has been singled out as one of the
best prospects for growth by Yelp, who note its rapidly expanding and youthful population.
According to VP Miriam Warren, Yelp look forward to witnessing users develop the site “for
the benefit of both consumers and independent small businesses” in Turkey.
