Westport Writers’ Workshop Launches New Business Writing Venture
WESTPORT, Conn., Jan. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Westport Writers’ Workshop (www.westportwritersworkshop.com) founder and director Jessica Bram announced today the launch of a major new initiative for the Connecticut-based organization. In addition to its ongoing creative writing workshops, the Westport Writers’ Workshop will enter the business training realm with professional level writing classes.
Targeted to professionals striving to sharpen their writing skills and companies seeking the same for their staffs, the Westport Writers’ Workshop’s business writing focus provides a cost-effective way to enable business owners, professionals, and employees at all levels to become more confident writers. “As our reputation for top quality creative writing programs has grown in Fairfield County and beyond, the Westport Writers’ Workshop received many inquiries for business writing training. This clearly spoke of an unmet need in the business community,” said Jessica Bram.
The new business writing initiative will include classes in business and e-mail communications, document and report preparation, grant writing, proposal writing and PowerPoint presentations. These workshops will be offered in short term units on both Saturdays and weekdays.
The new venture will officially launch with the four-hour Effective Business Writing workshop led by professional business trainer, Victoria Amon, who brings over twenty-five years of corporate experience.
Effective Business Writing will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both Saturday, March 2, and Monday, April 1, 2013. Participants will learn how to organize, draft and complete a polished business document and will create a custom action plan aimed at improving editing, word choice, tone and writing style. The cost is $495 per person and includes a 100+ page workbook summarizing the workshop’s content. Registration is limited to 18 and pre-registration at www.westportwritersworkshop.com is required.
“Being able to communicate effectively, succinctly and persuasively in writing is a critical skill that build careers,” said Amon. “Even in an age of texting and e-mailing, good writing is crucial.”
Established in 2004, the Westport Writers’ Workshop offers workshops in fiction, nonfiction, memoir, writing for children, playwriting and now business writing, designed to nurture creativity, inspire imagination and develop the writing craft.
