The 20th Annual JCA Productive Aging Awards Dinner Returns May 19
Celebrated ‘Team of Rivals’ Author Doris Kearns Goodwin and Noted Presidential Speechwriter Richard N. Goodwin Headline the Program as 2013 Honorees
ROCKVILLE, Md., March 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Jewish Council for the Aging of Greater Washington (JCA), a community-based charity that is about to celebrate its 40th anniversary of helping all seniors thrive, is pleased to announce that Doris Kearns Goodwin and her husband, Richard N. Goodwin, will receive the Jewish Council for the Aging’s coveted Productive Aging Award. The dinner and awards program is slated for Sunday, May 19th, 5:30 PM, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, North Bethesda, MD.
Doris Kearns Goodwin is a Pulitzer prize-winning biographer, historian, political commentator and author, most recently heralded for her book, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, which served as the inspiration for the Oscar-nominated movie, Lincoln. Also slated to be honored, her husband, Richard N. Goodwin, noted author and speechwriter to Presidents Kennedy and Johnson, among many career highlights.
The evening’s festivities also include Arlene and Robert P. Kogod receiving the JCA’s 2013 Humanitarian Award. Local business executive Robert Kogod and his wife, Arlene, are passionate philanthropists in the Greater Washington, D.C. area whose contributions in time and talents have benefited many educational institutions and not-for-profit organizations. Cathy and Dan Hodin, dedicated supporters of JCA, are the Event Chairs.
