Jamie Hoyte Joins A.D.S. Ventures, Inc.
Former Massachusetts Secretary of Environmental Affairs Brings First Hand Public Policy Experience and Unique Perspectives on Energy, Environment, Education, and Workforce Development Issues
BOSTON, March 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — A.D.S. Ventures, Inc. announced today that Jamie Hoyte, former Massachusetts Secretary of Environmental Affairs and Associate Vice President at Harvard University, has joined the firm. As Of Counsel, Hoyte will advise A.D.S. Ventures clients on a wide range of issues including energy, water, environment, higher education, workforce development, and transportation policy.
Hoyte has nearly 45 years of experience as a policymaker and senior government official. Prior to joining A.D.S. Ventures, Hoyte spent 16 years at Harvard University as Assistant to the President and Associate Vice President. He was also a Lecturer on Environmental Sciences and Public Policy at Harvard College, Adjunct Lecturer in Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Government and a Faculty Associate of the Harvard Center for the Environment. While at Harvard, he co-founded The Working Group on Environmental Justice, a group of scholars and activists committed to doing further research and promoting effective action to advance the cause of environmental justice.
“We are honored to have Jamie join A.D.S. Ventures and we look forward to working with him as a key member of our team,” said Chet Atkins, Founder and Director of A.D.S. Ventures. “With his decades of public service, long-standing relationships, and in-depth knowledge, Jamie approaches his work with the first-hand perspective of a policy-maker and regulator. His insights will be a tremendous resource for our clients as they navigate an increasingly complex policy and regulatory environment.”
From 1983 through 1988, Hoyte served as Massachusetts Secretary of Environmental Affairs. In this role Hoyte was responsible for the planning and management of all environmental and natural resource conservation policies and programs for the Commonwealth. As Secretary of Environmental Affairs, Hoyte was also the founding Chairman of the Board of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. In this capacity Hoyte oversaw the planning and design of the Boston Harbor Clean-Up project as well as the initial planning for a program to augment the drinking water supply of Eastern Massachusetts. Hoyte also served as Secretary-Treasurer and Director of Administration and Finance for the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) from 1976 to 1979.
“I’m thrilled to be working with A.D.S. Ventures,” Hoyte said. “Chet Atkins started the firm after decades of public service and has kept his dedication to the people and businesses of Massachusetts as his top priority since the day he was elected to office. Given the current fiscal and political environment, it is now more important than ever that businesses make their voices heard amongst policy-makers and regulators, something at which A.D.S. Ventures has a superior track record. I am looking forward to working with Chet and the A.D.S. Ventures team to bring additional insights, relationships and knowledge to bear so that we can advise and guide clients in establishing strong and effective policies that will help their institutions achieve their mission.”
Hoyte received his A.B. degree Cum Laude in Government from Harvard College and J.D. from Harvard Law School. He later completed The Program in Management Development at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Hoyte has published articles in the fields of environmental policy and management, and serves on the Board of Directors for numerous environmental and civic organizations including the Posse Foundation, the Massachusetts Environmental Trust, the Museum of African-American History, The Trustees of Reservations, the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Boston Natural Areas Network, and Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates.
As an appointee of Governor Patrick, Hoyte was a member of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Technology Park Corporation. He has also served on numerous special federal and state advisory panels including the National Advisory Committee to the North American Commission on Environmental Cooperation, the Institute of Medicine’s Committee on Environmental Decision-Making Under Uncertainty, the Governor’s Green Ribbon Commission on Massachusetts Parks, and the Massachusetts Historic Parkways Commission.
