WASHINGTON, April 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Washington political leaders representing the full range of center-right conservatives will fill the Atrium of the Newseum Monday, April 15, 2013, (6:30-8:30 pm) for the debut of Rare, the online news, information and social hub for today’s conservatives.

Two media events will highlight the evening. Brett M. Decker, editor-in-chief of Rare and host for the event, will conduct live one of his well-known “5 Questions With” interviews. The high-profile subject – to be revealed at the event – will capture the top spot on Rare.us when it launches moments later. Previous subjects of Decker’s interviews include Steve Forbes, Rick Perry and Judge Andrew Napolitano, among many other conservative leaders.
Additionally, a video will premier, showing a modern, fresh, technologically savvy approach to conservative media. It calls for “a new way forward” in the marketing of conservative ideals. The video (accessible at http://youtu.be/oj7GpWZ9EmI) features six young conservatives representing a cross section of America. They make the case for joining the Rare community at www.rare.us, describing Rare as “a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas, with content you care about.”
The video opens with a fiery critique of where American conservatives and the country are today. Recognized conservative political voices such as Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, and Marco Rubio suggest the future of America is uncertain and a new direction is needed. The video makes the point that “the conservative voice cracked” on November 6, 2012, as a result of Romney’s defeat. Rare.us provides a new conservative voice.
“With the live interview produced in real-time for the Rare.us launch, and the video proving conservative media has entered the modern age, we think Rare will immediately reset what America can expect from center-right news,” said Decker.
Decker will also speak at the event, calling for a broader and more mature, unifying expression and discussion of conservative positions on issues that confront the United States today. “We mean to change the conservative narrative into one that wins again. The old media approaches have failed to capture the moment at hand. Rare will,” Decker said.
Mr. Decker said the Rare event promises to bring together conservative Members of the House and Senate; center-right think tanks, political leaders, and affinity organizations; and individuals who are concerned about strengthening the conservative voice in upcoming campaigns.
