Kolot HaLev to Present On the Wings of Song, a Musical Portrait of Modern Life in Israel, at Fifth Annual Spring Concert

CHEVY CHASE, Md., April 9, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ –Kolot HaLev, the Jewish Community Choir of Suburban, Maryland will celebrates its 5th Anniversary on May 19, 2013 by presenting On the Wings of Song, a rich program of songs composed by Israelis and inspired by the daily realities of life in modern Israel. On the Wings of Song will begin at 4 pm at Ohr Kodesh Congregation in Chevy Chase, MD.
On the Wings of Song brings together humorous, tender, and joyful songs inspired by the yearning of lovers, the arrival of new immigrants, parents watching grown children leave for uncertain futures, friends saying farewell to fallen comrades, and other facets of life in a vital and complex 21st century Mid-Eastern nation.
“Israel is a modern nation facing all of the social and economic dilemmas of our new century. At the same time, Israel will always be the living fulfillment of Jewish aspirations. The melodies of these songs are beautiful and fresh. Joining Kolot HaLev are soloists Cantor Rachel Hersh, Mina Tzoukerman, and an array of excellent instrumentalists.

Kolot HaLev is a Washington, D.C. area community chorus where singers can develop musically and enhance their knowledge and love for Judaism. Kolot HaLev is “in residence” at Shirat HaNefesh, and sings a wide variety of traditional and modern liturgical music at Shirat HaNefesh services on the second Friday of the month and other days of celebration.
