VIVA Bahrain, today announced that race marshals at this weekend’s Grand Prix will be
using 4G-enabled devices for an experimental application to better manage the transfer of

VIVA Bahrain has provided 34 mini iPads, deployed across the track and connected to
its 4G network. The devices will run an experimental bespoke application developed for the
MMC by a talented young Bahraini programmer. This one-of-its-kind application connected to
4G is the first to be used by race marshals at a motorsport race and the MMC hopes that
following its successful use in Bahrain, the application can be used for the benefit of
motorsport races around the world.

“Technology and motorsport racing go hand-in-hand and this is the first time race
marshals in Bahrain and the region have had access to a 4G enabled application and which
will allow them to manage the transfer of information more efficiently,” said Fayez Ramzi
President of MMC. “The ability for marshals to better communicate real-time information to
our control room is essential for this type of applications.”

“When we launched in 2010, our goal was to create a network that gave our customers
limitless possibilities – this partnership is a real-life example of that,” said Eng.
Ulaiyan Al Wetaid, VIVA CEO. “We are thrilled to assist the race marshals by providing
them with the 4G connectivity to empower them to deliver this unique application. This
application has been created by a young Bahraini and we are pleased to invest in local
talent and to help local talent develop their skills and make them shine in such a unique
event.”
