Global telco partners with next generation mobile developer to provide unparalleled connectivity, making rooms-of-the-future possible now

NEW YORK, April 30, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ —

DOCOMO interTouch (DCMi), one of the world’s largest technology service providers for the global hospitality industry, has entered into a partnership with Fingi, a New York-based hospitality technology company, to provide Freedom One, a mobile app built exclusively for the hotel industry.

Developed specifically for hotels, Freedom One is the most advanced mobile app available to the hospitality market and offers hotels a powerful tool with which to connect to their guests. By bringing the entire guest experience together-from booking and check-in to complete in-room control, constant connectivity to the hotel during their stay and right through to checkout and post-stay communication-Freedom One is changing the entire hotel experience for both guest and hotel.

Prior to arrival or at check-in, the guest is invited to install the Freedom One mobile app on their smartphone (iOS, Android). This replaces the traditional room key and enables their phone to unlock their door and operate all amenities in their room such as lights, curtains, temperature and all in-room entertainment. The device also provides a direct connection to all hotel amenities: from concierge service to restaurants, clubs and spas. On and off property, Freedom One acts as a local phone number and wireless hotspot, giving the guest complete connectivity at extremely competitive rates, far cheaper than any roaming ones.

“Having a local number in a foreign city, from the moment you arrive, is something that was never seen as possible,” says Jacob Robfogle, co-founder of Fingi. “It was a frustration that all international travelers dealt with because there was no alternative. Now with Freedom One, we’ve solved this problem, giving the traveler universal connectivity and complete control over their visit.”

Freedom One will capture guest preferences, from temperature and lighting styles to television and music selections, and make them easily accessible the next time the guest checks into a Freedom One-enabled room. This unprecedented personalized service offers guests a high level of comfort when visiting a new or foreign environment.

Freedom One is only possible because it was created by the hospitality industry for the hospitality industry. The combination of DCMi and Fingi, two companies exclusively focused on the hotel industry, means that guest-based decisions were made at every point of development. This ensured that Freedom One delivered a product that was both previously unavailable and highly valued.

“Our partnership with DCMi allows the team to come at this challenge from two disciplines, technology and telco-both focused around hospitality,” says Eran Sherin, founding partner of Fingi. “No partnership in the world is better suited to develop and deliver a product of this magnitude for this precise industry. It’s a game changer for the hotel, and more importantly, for the guest.”

“All hotel chains are talking about mobility, but no one in this marketplace can combine both a high-level of software with extensive telco experience,” adds Nicolas Mercier, Chief Strategy Officer of DCMi. “Every decision we made was based on our in-depth knowledge of mobility, actual guest experience and desires. Knowing this industry so intimately will become crucial moving forward. The platform is designed to serve both large hotel groups that want to own their mobile platform or fulfill the need of smaller chains or independent hotels that require a fully managed mobility solution.”

DCMi and Fingi are poised to set the trend for hospitality technology and personalized guest service. The Freedom One app is just the beginning of new hotel industry technology.
