Elva Resa Appoints Bianca Strzalkowski Senior Editor of Military Family Book Imprint
2011 Military Spouse of the Year to develop resources for military families
ST. PAUL, Minn., May 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Award-winning independent publisher Elva Resa Publishing has appointed Bianca Strzalkowski senior editor of its military family book imprint. Strzalkowski will use her professional writing and editing skills, as well as first-hand experience living the military lifestyle and advocating for military families, to develop important resources for service members, their families, and supporting organizations.
“Bianca brings intimate knowledge of today’s military family challenges and rewards,” says publisher Karen Pavlicin-Fragnito. “She is very highly regarded within the military community. We’re excited to have Bianca join our team to manage the development of Elva Resa’s wonderful lineup of new titles and authors, and to help deliver these resources to families who need them.”
Elva Resa publishes the bestselling books Deployment Journal for Kids and Life After Deployment as well as important books on tender topics, such as Surviving the Folded Flag. New releases include books by such authors as Kathie Hightower, Holly Scherer, Terri Barnes, and Judy Davis.
A proud Marine Corps wife of 12 years, Strzalkowski was named the 2011 Military Spouse of the Year. As a mother of three, she has volunteered with organizations such as the U.S. Veteran Corps, National Military Family Association, and Marine Corps’ Family Readiness program. The Commandant of the Marine Corps, General James Amos, recognized her volunteerism with a Certificate of Commendation.
In July 2011, using her own student experience as a reference, Strzalkowski founded the Military Spouse Education Initiative. She believes it is possible for spouses to achieve their own goals around the diverse obstacles of military life. To date, she has worked with officials from the Departments of Defense and Labor, Congressional leadership, and the Joining Forces Initiative to work on the increasing need of educational opportunities for her peers.
In addition to advancing programming for spouses, Strzalkowski has appeared in media interviews, such as Fox & Friends and CNN Newsroom, and is a guest writer for The Huffington Post, Military Spouse magazine, SpouseBuzz, and Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). Currently, she is stationed with her family at Marine Corps Air Station New River, Jacksonville, North Carolina, where she serves on the Onslow County Civic Affairs Committee and is a consultant for Lifetime Television.
