SingWho Launches Updated Platform With Brand New Features
SingWho Gives Aspiring Singers A Digital Voice
NEW YORK, May 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — From American Idol to YouTube, there seem to be endless outlets for vocalist hopefuls to gain exposure and be discovered by the right people in the industry. But between traveling miles to stand in line for television contests or striving to be noticed in the sea of millions of videos online, for the average budding singer, the chances of standing out are slim. Enter SingWho 2.0, the latest update in the video platform that launched last November, allowing artists to upload their best vocal videos via an interactive recording studio and be voted up the ranks of the site by their peers, who serve as judges. Founders Nicholas Semkiw and Jess Silva believe they have streamlined the process of finding talent on the Internet and made it simpler for artists to be discovered.
“We wanted singers to not be limited by their proximity to a city or the patience of viewers who don’t have time to sift through hundreds of thousands of videos to find them. There might be the next Justin Bieber on YouTube, but he hasn’t gone viral yet. The goal with SingWho has always been to create a vertical where artists were rewarded for their talent early on, rather than relying on the possibility of someone stumbling onto their video,” says Semkiw.
With the launch of SingWho 2.0, the site has gotten a sleek new makeover, including new user-friendly design features like a real-time chat application, enabling users to interact on the site. In addition, SingWho will offer users multiple contests each month, encouraging users to upload their covers songs to win prizes by partnering with music brands and featuring Top 40 artists like Bruno Mars and Emeli Sande.
Industry veteran and founder of Olympic Broadcasting, Ivan Braiker believes SingWho is poised to impact the music world beyond the confines of the Internet.
“SingWho is a platform that I feel will change the way new artists are discovered,” says Braiker, adding, “It puts the power in the hands of the people both creating and discovering music and gives them a place to open a dialogue with one another rather than projecting out into a world that isn’t listening.”
“SingWho is marrying music and social media and popping out some seriously talented babies. As far as discovering new talent, YouTube’s got nothing on SingWho.“-Killer Start Ups
