JamTok Announces Launch Of Spanish-English Language App On iTunes

June 5, 2013

Uses hit songs made famous by Carlos Santana and Bruno Mars to teach languages

LOS ANGELES, June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — JamTok, the leader in gamified music-based language learning, launched its Spanish-English edition on iTunes worldwide. JamTok uses popular music and games to teach foreign languages in an engaging, contextual and fun way. With the Spanish-English version, players will be able to use songs made famous by artists like Carlos Santana, Bruno Mars, Michelle Branch and the Plain White T’s to learn both languages, as all songs are recorded in English and Spanish.

Studies have proven that language learning is more effective when doing something contextual and fun. A recent study from Nottingham University in April 2013 concluded that fun and informal contextual tools like games make language learning more effective. This is consistent with the theory behind JamTok’s method.

JamTok’s first launch was a Japanese-English version in April. The app was featured as “New and Noteworthy” in the Japan store for the first two weeks. JamTok plans to build on this success with a comparatively larger Spanish opportunity. Additional languages including Mandarin and Brazilian Portuguese will follow in coming months.

“Learning a language by traditional means is often stressful and boring”, said Geremie Camara, CEO and co-founder of TicTokLabs, owner of JamTok. “With JamTok, we’re leveraging activities that are intrinsically fun, like listening to music and playing games, to create deep engagement and learning.”

TicTokLabs, Inc. developed JamTok as a multi-platform, gamified learning service aimed at the $83 billion worldwide language learning market. It uses popular music and games to teach foreign languages. Launched by a team of experienced international media & technology professionals, JamTok is focused on the largest language learning opportunities in the US and abroad, offering an attractive supplement to formal language studies at Universities, or via programs like Berlitz or Rosetta Stone.
