NEWARK, N.J., Aug. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Panasonic, a worldwide leader in electronic technologies and solutions, and the Official Television, Home Entertainment and Imaging sponsor of the US Open, today announced plans to entertain and engage visitors at the 2013 US Open Tennis Championships with demonstrations of its consumers and business technologies. The US Open began on Monday, August 26 and will run through Monday, September 9 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY.
New Panasonic Innovation Center
The solutions for business customers on view at the US Open mirror, on a small scale, the technologies that will be demonstrated at the newly created Panasonic Innovation Center housed in the company’s relocated North American headquarters in Newark, NJ. The construction of Panasonic’s new state-of-the-art, sustainable building is the embodiment of the company’s commitment to the environment and to meeting its goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 50 percent. Located adjacent to the Newark Penn Station transit hub, the Panasonic Building enables employees to take advantage of a wide range of public transit options. The Innovation Center, like the building itself, will formally open next month but is being previewed for business customers and stakeholders for the duration of the US Open.
The Innovation Center will showcase the company’s latest technologies, vision and heritage, offering visitors a number of zones to experience Panasonic’s technology solutions engineered for the home, industrial applications, avionics environments, the connected car and eco solutions. The first Panasonic showcase of its kind outside Japan, the Center brings all of Panasonic’s diverse technologies and capabilities in North America together in one location to improve accessibility for business customers.
“The US Open presents a great opportunity for Panasonic to demonstrate for hundreds of thousands of tennis fans the solutions we provide to businesses to help them delight their customers,” said Joseph M. Taylor, Chairman and CEO, Panasonic Corporation of North America. “In parallel we’re taking advantage of the proximity of our Innovation Center to show our business customers, especially those who are attending the Open, the kinds of technologies Panasonic can leverage to help create solutions for their challenges.”
Panasonic Gallery at US Open
This year visitors to the Panasonic Gallery, located on the ground level of Louis Armstrong Stadium will see a range of technology solutions that Panasonic provides to some of the world’s renowned brands to keep their customers entertained, informed and in touch. In addition, Panasonic VIERA flat-panel displays will bring the action from center court to spectators and fans in all corners of the Tennis Center. Fans can also capture the action on the court with Panasonic’s LUMIX digital cameras available for use at the LUMIX Lending Bars located in the South Plaza and adjacent to the Food Village.
Panasonic Avionics was the first to bring live, global, in-flight television service to the airline industry, enabling passengers to enjoy the same type of high-quality entertainment that they watch at home. In the Panasonic Gallery visitors will be able to sit in an airline seat and watch a live feed of match play at the US Open on a widescreen seatback display just as passengers experience in-flight.
Visitors will also be able to see how Panasonic technology impacts your driving experience via their Connected Car Console that highlights Panasonic electronics technology including a touchscreen display, voice activated control system and clear information and entertainment displays. In addition, music fans can enjoy the Aupeo! listening bar which simulates the audio experience Panasonic delivers to drivers throughout the world. Aupeo! is a personalized audio streaming service available in vehicles around the globe which offers contextually relevant recommendations for streaming music, news, weather and information.
In addition to the Panasonic Gallery, Panasonic brings US Open fans thirteen large video boards throughout the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center including Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium, the Food Village and the South Plaza. Fans can now watch all of the action and review the player challenges in crisp, clear high definition.
