Cognitiv Recruits Former NFL Business Executive Michael Huyghue to Board of Directors
LAKE MARY, Fla., Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Cognitiv, Inc. (“Cognitiv” / OTCBB: COGV), a behavior driven marketing firm, has added Michael Huyghue to its board of directors. Huyghue is a business executive and attorney who gained notoriety when he became the youngest general manager in professional football at the age of twenty-nine.
Huyghue has twice been named a “Forty Under 40″ top sports business executive by SportsBusiness Journal/Daily. Over his two-decade career, Huyghue has served on many of the NFL Commissioner’s prominent committees–including the NFL Management Council, the Executive Working Group Committee, the NFL College Advisory Committee, and NFL Europe–and he has served as a Trustee of the NFL Players Insurance Trust.
“Michael knows how to get things moving and people excited, and build lasting relationships,” said Craig Ellins, who recently became Cognitiv’s CEO and Chairman of the Board. “His coaching and business development skills will be of great value to our company and our stakeholders.”
Huyghue’s professional career includes leading professional sports organizations, forging tight connections to entertainers and athletes, and launching startups. He worked for both the NFL Players Association and the NFL Management Council before becoming the youngest general manager in professional football with the World League of American Football’s Birmingham Fire in 1991.
After serving as Vice President and General Counsel for the Detroit Lions, Huyghue joined the Jacksonville Jaguars as Senior Vice President of Football Operations in 1994, the team’s inaugural NFL season. At this time, the Jaguars became the winningest franchise in expansion history.
