Little Big Shot and Big Brothers Big Sisters Announce National Partnership
IRVING, Texas, Dec. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Little Big Shot, the competitive basketball shootout tournament will host fund raising events to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters in five U.S. cities in early 2014. The tournament, piloted in Dallas in 2011, will add Houston, Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Sacramento as event cities.
The success of the initial event led founder, and current Little Big Shot Board CEO, Tom Slone, to approach Big Brothers Big Sisters leaders with the idea of launching a national, franchised fundraising event. Charles Pierson, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America said, “We are excited about this partnership and the opportunity to not only repeat the successful tournament in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but to bring the tournament to other cities as well. Little Big Shot offers our Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies a great community event aimed at raising program funds and awareness of our mission of providing mentors for children facing adversity.”
The tournaments are bracketed, competitive three-point shot tournaments for players of all ages and skill levels. Teams are grouped by age and gender and go head to head in elimination rounds to determine the winning team in each division. Founder Tom Slone said, “Everybody thinks they can hit a three – and here’s their chance to show off, and help a great cause.” The 2014 fund raisers kick off in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in January.
