One of the most extravagant stadiums in the world was built with fans in mind. While AT&T Stadium (formerly known as Cowboys Stadium) was built mostly to welcome fans of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League, they also made it easy to convert to a stadium that can welcome fans of musicians and other events. In the case of musical events, the arena will be hosting George Strait in his farewell tour in 2014 and with the recent announcement by boy band One Direction, will also host one of their stadium shows in August 2014.

One Direction became an international phenomenon in 2010 after competing on The X Factor. The group finished third on the show and has seen their popularity grow with every single, media appearance and live performance. Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson make up the group and after finishing a 131 date tour between February and November of this year, will take a break from the road until August for the “Where We Are” tour. The tour currently has 23 dates, up two additional dates already since the initial tour announcement.

On November 25th, One Direction released their third album, Midnight Memories, and is hoping to see that album have as much success as their first two. Their debut album – Up All Night – was released in 2011 and has sold more than 4.5 million records around the world. In their second album titled Take Me Home, One Direction has seen more than 4.4 copies sold worldwide. Their latest album opened at the top of the charts in many countries including Ireland, United Kingdom, Australia and Sweden.

AT&T Stadium is a world-class facility that cost more than $1.3 billion to construct. It opened in 2009 and seating room can be expanded to fit more than 100,000 fans. More than 108,000 attended the NBA All Star Game in 2010 at the stadium and more than 105,000 attended a Cowboys vs. New York Giants game in 2009.

One Direction could play in front of their largest crowds ever on August 24th when they play in Dallas for this concert. One Direction has four concerts scheduled in Texas: Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and El Paso. 1D fans will be heading to AT&T Stadium in late August just to catch a glimpse of their favorite boy band. With that in mind, don’t hesitate to get your tickets when they go on sale on December 7th.
