Seattle Seahawks Wide Receiver Golden Tate And Performance Sock Brand STRIDELINE(TM) Establish Partnership
TATE REACHED OUT TO STRIDELINE(TM) FOUNDERS TO ESTABLISH A RELATIONSHIP ON AND OFF THE FIELD
SEATTLE, Dec. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate and performance sock brand STRIDELINE(TM) have established a relationship. Tate will wear the Seattle based brand on and off the field. Tate reached out to STRIDELINE(TM) co-founders Riley Goodman and Jake Director via social media expressing interest in wearing the distinctly designed, high performance sock brand during a game against the New Orleans Saints. Although the NFL has a strict dress code policy, Tate didn’t seem to mind incurring fines to go ahead and proudly display his hometown pride by wearing STRIDELINE(TM) SeaTown Hawks Skyline Sock for the Seahawks win on national TV.
In 2009 while seniors in high school, STRIDELINE(TM) co-founders Riley Goodman and Jake Director set out to provide well designed, performance oriented crew socks that inspire a feeling of confidence and swagger unparalleled by any other sock company. The popular sock brand is quickly becoming the go-to brand for professional athletes and amateurs alike. STRIDELINE(TM) is changing the performance “sock game” by offering a product that combines technology with innovative design. The brand’s range of City Socks features recognizable U.S. skylines including Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Brooklyn and Boston.
Boasting a cult following, high profile STRIDELINE(TM) fans include Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Gibson, Denver Outlaws midfielder Drew Snider, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, Denver Nuggets point guard Nate Robinson, and rapper Snoop Lion.
The story began even before Riley Goodman and Jake Director started selling socks. Born in the same hospital, a couple hours apart, Goodman and Director grew up in the same neighborhood, attended the same elementary, middle, and high school and studied at the University of Washington. How this strangely similar upbringing translated into a uniquely similar passion for socks is yet to be fully understood. Nonetheless, in the spring of 2009, two months shy of high school graduation, the friends and future business partners started the company – then called SeaTown Lax. The idea was to meet the demand in Seattle for colored crew socks that were not simply an afterthought – but a distinctive part of an outfit. Though they had no college degree, no professional background, no credibility to raise investment, no retail experience, and no idea how to start a company Goodman and Director were confident that if they could get product to customers, they would share the passion for the concept. To fund the first order, they pooled together $700 of graduation money and sent it to a manufacturer for their first 1,000 pairs with the Seattle city skyline. With the enthusiasm and support from loyal customers, product sold out in just three weeks. Now available in retail stores throughout the country, including Nordstrom, Champs, and Lids, the success in Seattle has propelled the business into new markets. In fall 2012, the brand launched six new city socks to add to the line: Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Chicago and New York. With the new stamp of approval, the STRIDELINE(TM) “S” on the back of socks, the product is distinctive from knockoffs and customers know they are wearing the best. www.strideline.com
