Alpina And AllTrails.com Launch The “Alpina 4 Summits World Challenge” The First International Elevation Challenge

GENEVA, May 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — From May 1st until October 31st 2014, runners, hikers and climbers from around the world can compete in the first World Elevation Challenge created by Alpina Watches and AllTrails. During each of the 4 challenges participants will track their adventures to accumulate the same elevation as one of the world’s most legendary summits: Matterhorn, Kilimanjaro, Mount McKinley and Everest. The participants will be able to track their progress, as well as see their global ranking in real-time, using the AllTrails App.

The 4 challenges
Challenge #1: May 1 – Jun 30, Matterhorn, Switzerland, 4478 m
Challenge #2: Jul 1 – Aug 31, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, 5895m
Challenge #3: Sep 1 – Oct 31, Mount McKinley, Alaska (USA), 6168m
Endurance Challenge: May 1 – Oct 31, Everest, Nepal, 8848 m Everest, Nepal, 8848m

Who can participate
Anyone, from any country in the world, who downloads the free AllTrails mobile app from Apple Store or Google Play, as well as any existing AllTrails members.

How to participate
Download the AllTrails mobile application from the App Store or Google Play and create your free account to record your tracks and the progress of your climbs.

The prizes
One participant will be randomly selected from everyone who achieves the elevation goal for each challenge to win a “Trip-of-a-Lifetime” to visit the summit.
For the Everest challenge this will be a once in a lifetime experience to see the world’s tallest mountain from Everest Base Camp.
Additionally, the top 3 finishers for each challenge will win an Alpina watch from its Alpiner collection. Professional sports watches dedicated to the alpine universe.
