Ad Agency Billing Rates Increase Across the Board from 2012-2013
WYOMISSING, Pa., June 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — National hourly billing rates for small to mid-size advertising and marketing firms increased across all functions from 2012-2013, according to Second Wind’s 2013 Annual Agency Survey Report.
Second Wind, a national association of small-to-midsize advertising, marketing, graphic design, PR and interactive firms, annually surveys its 750+ agency members across the US and Canada to gather data for the annual report.
Account service, art direction and account planning saw the most drastic increases; the national average hourly rate for account service increased by $23 ($160 to $183), art direction increased by $15 ($128 to $143) and account planning increased by $13 ($120 to $133). Average billing rates increased by $12 for strategic planning, web content development and digital production.
Several other functions saw increases including creative/design, digital design, copywriting, production, project management, estimating, proofreading, research, media planning/buying, public relations, digital strategy, SEO/SEM facilitation and administration/clerical.
“The financial, accounting and operations data reported in this year’s survey shows a significant improvement for small to midsize advertising agencies,” Laurie Mikes, Second Wind’s COO said. “It also appears that agency clients have begun to accept rate increases. We can only hope that this lays to rest the recent economic crisis. If agencies continue doing what they’re doing, next year should be even better.”
The Annual Agency Survey Report allows Second Wind members to compare their data with average data from other member agencies. It is the most complete survey of smaller to midsize agencies that exists today.
The Annual Agency Survey Report is published exclusively for Second Wind members.
