McGraw-Hill Education Professional’s AccessMedicine App Delivers Instant Access to Essential Diagnostic Tools

July 29, 2014

NEW YORK, July 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — McGraw-Hill Education Professional, a leading global provider of content and services for the science, technical, and medical communities, has announced the launch of the AccessMedicine App, the first off-line mobile application of the world-renowned medical education platform.

A key feature of the new AccessMedicine App, available for download onto all iOS and Android devices, is that users will now be able to gain access to valuable AccessMedicine diagnostic resources in an off-line environment. Because AccessMedicine users – doctors, residents, medical students, nurses – typically work in environments such as wards and ER’s, where internet service is frequently unavailable, the AccessMedicine App provides access to essential point-of-care diagnostic tools and resources. These include:

-- Quick Medical Dx & Rx - Providing concise evidence-based outlines of
conditions and disorders most often encountered in medical practice, the
Quick Medical Dx & Rx Tool is derived from the leading annual guide to
internal medicine. Perfect for high-yield review or for quick reference
        in the clinical setting.
-- Visual Diagnostic Tool for Dermatology - This tool facilitates visual
diagnosis by providing color images of skin lesions, plus a summary
outline of skin disorders and diseases derived from the world's leading
visual atlas of dermatology, Fitzpatrick's Color Atlas of Clinical
        Dermatology.
-- Differential Diagnosis Tool - With more than 1,000 diagnoses found on
the acclaimed Diagnosaurus® app, this unique tool efficiently allows
users to browse by symptom, disease, or organ system at the point of
        care.
-- Diagnostic Tests - Powered by Pocket Guide to Diagnostic Tests, this
tool is a quick reference to the selection and interpretation of
commonly used diagnostic tests including laboratory procedures in the
        clinical setting.

The AccessMedicine platforms are accessible on any device through the recently launched responsive design on the new SCM6 platform. But with the AccessMedicine App, users can tap into the most relevant point of care tools in any environment.

“We created the AccessMedicine App for medical students and healthcare professionals to ultimately help improve the quality of patient care at bedside,” says Philip Ruppel, president of McGraw-Hill Education Professional. “Our mission is to use technology to deliver our essential medical content when and where it is needed to achieve better health outcomes.”

The AccessMedicine App can be downloaded from iTunes for Apple iPhones and iPads and from Google Play for Android devices. Today the AccessMedicine App is available exclusively to institutional subscribers to the AccessMedicine platform. Once downloaded, AccessMedicine subscribers simply use their My Access accounts to activate the app.

McGraw-Hill Education Professional’s suite of Access services for healthcare professionals and student – AccessMedicine, AccessAnesthesiology, AccessEmergency Medicine , AccessPediatrics, AccessPharmacy, AccessPhysiotherapy, and AccessSurgery – are used by almost every medical school in the United States and in many countries around the world.
