Specific Media, the largest independent online advertising network, announced today that it has appointed David Jakubowski as senior vice president. A seasoned executive who brought Microsoft's Search platform (adCenter) to market and helped launch Quigo, Jakubowski adds years of industry experience and success to Specific Media's executive team. He will be instrumental in expanding Specific Media's rapidly growing Fortune 500 client roster, streamlining the media buying process, shaping future products and helping evaluate potential acquisition targets.
Jakubowski joins Specific Media from Microsoft, where he was general manager of Microsoft adCenter and Search Strategy. In this role, he oversaw product management, development of go-to-market strategies, and positioning to the ad community. Before joining Microsoft, Jakubowski was senior vice president of Quigo Technologies Inc., where he was responsible for building out the business units, expanding the client base, increasing revenue growth, and overseeing marketing and customer acquisition. Under his guidance, Quigo grew from a small startup to one of the largest search engine marketers in the space and one of Google Inc.'s largest competitors in the contextual space. Jakubowski graduated from Binghamton University.
"We are pleased to welcome David to the Specific Media team," said Tim Vanderhook, Specific Media co-founder and chief executive officer. "As we are working to secure our market advantage and solidify our leadership position as the independent advertising network of choice for brand advertisers, David's experience scaling Microsoft's AdCenter and building up Quigo's revenues will prove invaluable."
Specific Media is one of the fastest growing companies in the advertising industry, which experienced an unprecedented flurry of acquisitions earlier this year. Every month, more than 130 million U.S. consumers are reached through Specific Media's Premium Ad Network, which encompasses more than 450 name brand publishers. Specific Media clients include more than 200 of the Fortune 500 companies and seven of the top 10.
"I look forward to helping Specific Media become the largest independent player in the interactive advertising space," said Jakubowski. "At Microsoft I was an avid buyer of Specific Media and had the opportunity to experience first-hand the reach and ROI Specific Media delivers. Working with a company that has so many successes under its belt and yet so much potential for the future was too good an opportunity to pass up."
